New 5.5" Doctor Who Collector Series Figures

Underground Toys USA surprised us all with a flurry of announcements of new and upcoming Doctor Who figures in the 5.5" Collector Series.

First up is the 10th Doctor in his tuxedo from a selection Series 2 and 3 episodes. This is a figure that fans have wanted for years, so it's great to see it being released. It's worth noting that this figure uses The End of Time head, something that's been long overdue on 10th Doctor figures. It also features bicep articulation, something else seldom featured on 10th Doctor figures.

The 12th Doctor from The Girl Who Died is next up, featuring a new head sculpt and hoody and t-shirt combo. The figure also includes the new Sonic Screwdriver first seen at the end of the series.

FPI have confirmed that they will be receiving the 10th Doctor sometime in December and I think we can safely assume that the 12th Doctor will also become available.

The 10th Doctor's TARDIS Playset is also getting a re-release in America where it was not widely available, so it's a great opportunity for US based fans to get their hands on the best Doctor Who playset ever made.

In other news, the 13 Doctors Set is now listed on Toys R Us' website for £99. No word on home delivery as of yet but there as been rumours that FPI will also have some sets available.

13 Doctors Action Figure Set Revealed at SDCC 2016

Word had been floating around that something 'big' was coming from Underground Toys and yesterday they didn't disappoint as they revealed a whopping great set of 13 new Doctor repaints in the much loved 5.5" Collector Series scale.

The set appears to include the following:

- 1st Doctor from The Web Planet (although it does seem to have trousers from his later stories)
- 2nd Doctor from The Two Doctors
- 3rd Doctor from The Time Monster (actually it's The Three Doctors because of the bow tie)
- 4th Doctor from Logopolis (more accurate scarf pattern and darker colours)
- 5th Doctor from The Awakening (new version of the season 21 trousers and dirty trainers)
- 6th Doctor from Big Finish covers
- 7th Doctor from Ghost Light (greener trousers, scarf and handkerchief)
- 8th Doctor from The Night of the Doctor (dirty and battle damaged)
- War Doctor from The Day of the Doctor (new colours based on nothing in particular)
- 9th Doctor from The Parting of the Ways (purple/blue jumper actually from Aliens of London)
- 10th Doctor from The Shakespeare Code (slightly different colours)
- 11th Doctor from The Beast Below (slightly different colours)
- 12th Doctor from Deep Breath (actually from Time Heist with a dark blue shirt)

No news on when or where it will be available or how much it will cost. More info as it comes!

Doctor Who Series 9 Missy - Forbidden Planet International Exclusive

FPI have listed a new Missy variant, this time from the opening episodes of Series 9.

The outfit is now a more vibrant purple, with a different colour shirt, a different broach, and black pencil line down the skirt. She comes with her umbrella and her little gizmo (Missy's Device).

FPI have also listed the black variant of Missy, which is exactly the same as the Character Online exclusive. With this in mind, I would imagine that we won't be seeing any new exclusives on Character's site. With both Missy's still in stock it on Character's site and now the re-release and repaint from FPI, it doesn't look great for the 5.5" line.

You can order the new variant here.

Twelfth Doctor’s Second Sonic Screwdriver Blasts into Character Options’ Collection

After months of speculation it is now official, the Twelfth Doctor’s Second Sonic Screwdriver is to be part of the Character Options’ toy collection. The first images have been released with confirmation that the eagerly awaited Sonic will be on sale within weeks!

This new toy version is a faithful recreation of the current Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver which debuted in the Series 9 Episode ‘Hell Bent’. This is the first Sonic to have 4 light modes and four sound FX. The model has been designed as a replica from the Series 9 Prop.

As all fans would know, the Doctor has carried many Sonic Screwdrivers of various designs throughout his lifetimes, ranging from a simple silver coloured tube to more complex illuminated and articulated versions.

This second Sonic for the Twelfth Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi, was ‘gifted' to him by the TARDIS itself after his previous version was lost. Although we are yet to discover all of the new Sonic’s abilities, like the Doctor himself, it has become ever more complex and mysterious. This multipurpose tool features numerous settings and can open most locks, detect all manner of deadly rays, read bio-signs and generate Sonic waves of great power.

Alasdair Dewar, Head of Product Development at Character Options commented: “Since this Twelfth Doctor’s Second Sonic Screwdriver appeared at the end of series 9, we have been inundated by fan requests to produce a toy replica as part of our toy range. We are therefore very proud to finally be able to reveal it. The Sonic Screwdriver has historically been one of the most sought after toys for fans and collectors alike and we hope they will be as delighted with it as we are.”

New Classic Doctor Who Action Figures from B&M Stores?

According to WHONA we may not have too long to wait before the next selection of classic Doctor Who figures. The supplier explains that a new Third Doctor three-pack will be released as a B&M exclusive in the UK and via Underground Toys in the US, all under the new Collector Range banner.

Although the set features no brand new figures, it does feature two new repaints. Firstly is the Third Doctor from Invasion of the Dinosaurs, which was originally planned for release in the canceled 11 Doctors Boxset Two. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to have the Doctor's cloak as the original leaked prototype did, but it does mark the third time this sculpt is 100% accurate to the costume it's portraying.

Secondly we have a new Jo Grant, based on her appearance in The Time Monster. This also add credit to a previous remark made by actress Katy Manning that three figures of her character would be released. The last figure in the set is the Master, as portrayed by Roger Delgado, which is a straight re-release.

Current suggestions are that the set will appear in May/June, so keep your eyes open. Hopefully this will be the first of three sets as in the past B&M have issued three figure sets at a time. If this set also follows the same B&M tradition of being around £12.99 - £15, that will be quite a bargain, especially for those who missed out on previous releases.

More updates to come!
