"Well... Here we go again" - New Review this Week!

An unscheduled review is set to appear this week! The figure comes courtesy of James Naylor (ThalLovingKaled as he's known on YouTube) who was extremely kind to part company with it, which means my long search is over! But what is this mystery figure? Well here's a hint...

A huge thank you to everyone who donated

The biggest of thank you's to everyone who donated and helped spread the word, and of course to Kat for taking the time to make all of this a possibility. I wouldn't have been able to do any of this without her. I was totally gobsmacked by the whole thing. I cannot thank you all enough.

Lost now Found! The Enemy of the World and The Web of Fear returned at last!

With rumour and speculation zipping about all over the place, the BBC finally revealed during their press conference yesterday, that all remaining episodes of The Enemy of the World and episodes two, four, five and six of The Web of Fear had been discovered in Nigeria gathering dust.

This is, of course, a monumental find. The Enemy of the World joins the ranks of one of the very few surviving full Patrick Troughton stories, and The Web of Fear is so near to that title too. The find of The Web of Fear is particularly important, given it's inclusion of the Yeti and the Great Intelligence, the latter of which has re-appeared in the latest series. Coincidence? Behind the scenes plot? Who knows, either way I am totally psyched to watch these episodes over the weekend. My brother was desperate for us to watch them together, but sadly that's not going to be possible, so instead we're going to try and watch the first part of The Enemy of the World tomorrow, just to start us off. I may post our initial thoughts here, just for fun!

So does this mean we may get more in the future? Lets hope so! This is the largest find we've had since Tomb of the Cybermen back in 1992. So maybe we can live in hope that more black and white classics are sitting around waiting to be found.

The news of this find has been everywhere, and the BBC have wasted no time in getting these episodes out to fans. Both stories are available to download on iTunes for £9.99 each, with The Web of Fear including a telesnap photo reconstruction of episode three.

The BBC also announced the DVD release dates, and the covers of both stories. The Enemy of the World is scheduled for the 22nd of November at the Doctor Who Celebration, with a general release on the 25th. The Web of Fear is scheduled for release on the 24th of February.

The BBC Shop also have a limited edition version available to pre-order, which includes a limited edition T-Shirt. You can pre-order this version and the standard versions by following the ad link on the right.

As if that wasn't enough, Doctor Who Magazine have two variant covers that also feature the big news.

Doctor Who: Missing Episodes Revealed Tonight

Later this evening the BBC will announce the newly discovered lost episodes of Doctor Who's early years. From what we can gather there have been episodes featuring both William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton returned to the BBC's archives.

This rumour was floating around for quite sometime, and as of yet there is no firm indication of how many episodes have been retrieved. Some sources are stating as high as 90 episodes have been found, which I for one find incredibly hard to believe. I sincerely hope the BBC prove me wrong tonight though!

Deborah Watling and Frazer Hines will be assisting the BBC in their press announcement, where the number of episodes will be revealed along with where we can access these missing pieces of Doctor Who history.

Stay tuned later this evening, as I'll be posting the full breakdown of info, along with my thoughts and feeling on the matter.

Ace has been dispatched!

I received a rather pleasant email at 10:48 this morning, informing me that Ace is on her way to my doorstep! It's been a long time coming with delays coming thick and fast, but if you have pre-ordered your Ace figure from Forbidden Planet International, then chances are you'll get a despatch email today or Monday.

I'm crossing fingers, toes and other body parts in the hope that she may, by some miracle of miracles, turn up tomorrow. It's very unlikely, but it has happened once or twice. If Ace does turn up tomorrow, then you can be sure to see the review later in the day. If not, chances are she'll turn up Monday in which case I am not here, so the review will be up Tuesday.

Stay tuned folks! I'll keep the blog updated as soon as I know what's happening!

UPDATE: Ack, no Ace! Alas, Dorothy McShane did not appear in the post today. This means she ought to be here Monday. Stay tuned for the review later on Tuesday!

Happy 50th Anniversary Folks!

So this is it! The Day of the Doctor! Celebrating 50 years of Doctor Who! Just look at this poster! Oozing with nostalgia from the last 50 years! There's Tennant and a reference to Bad Wolf, a bit of Gallifrey, a couple of Daleks... um, err, the date... the title of the programme...

Yeah, so it's looking like a celebration of the last 8 years. Great. Now I know I'm jumping the gun a bit. After all this only gives us a few indications of what the special contains, but to be honest it doesn't fill me with a great deal of hope. Is there anything here to suggest it has anything to do with the 50th Anniversary? No. It just looks like an episode that has Tennant and Mr Hurt in it. Oh and the less said about Bad Wolf, the better. It seems An Adventure in Space and Time will be more of a celebration of Doctor Who than this could be.

Obviously I'm still excited to see how the John Hurt/Time War story pans out. After all if you could have someone play the Doctor, you couldn't possibly say no to John Hurt! Despite the continuity bending issues, I'm intrigued to see if all of this will work and if it will pay off. Time will tell. I'm interested to see how Matt Smith and David Tennant interact with Hurt and each other, and how all of that will work within the story. Of course with the addition of Daleks, Cybermen and the long awaited return of the Zygons in the episode, there are still a few things to get excited about. How does Coal Hill School and 76 Totters Yard play into the story? What's with the UNIT scientist wearing the 4th Doctor's scarf? Will the original Doctors make some sort of appearance either as stock footage, as per The Name of the Doctor, or with the original actors coming back for a brief cameo? I'm hoping for the latter, especially in McGann's case, who, let's face it, has no excuse not to pop up! Perhaps there is some credence in the rumour of a McGann to Hurt regeneration after all.

So it's not to say that there won't be anything to do with the past 50 years in this episode. I'm sure it'll be teeming with little nods and references to old Doctor Who. My real complaint is that this poster doesn't seem to suggest that. Perhaps auntie Beeb are scared that if they advertise it as a fanfest, anyone who isn't a sad loonie won't watch it. I guess we'll see on the day, or nearer the time. We'll just have to see...

A quick heads up on the Ace action figure, it's been delayed until September 9th! So hopefully the review will be up at some point during that week.

Doctor Who Toby Mugs available to order

So I was rather excited when I heard Toby was producing mugs of all eleven Doctors, not so much when I saw them. Now from above, as photographed below, they don't look so bad. Look at them front on and they look bloody awful.

Can anyone honestly say they resemble the actors? Truly? I think McCoy is the best one. Really nice job on the paisley pattern on the hat band.

You can follow the ad links to the Forbidden Planet sites on the right to order yours today! Are you getting them? Do you think they're fun? Let me know!

It begins!

Hello, hello? Is this thing working? Ah yes, there you are! Welcome to the new batmanmarch reviews website! A project that has been months in the making and all thanks to my wonderful girlfriend, Kathrine (or katsonfirex as she's known on the YouTube) Kat has been slaving away trying to get this whole operation running and I owe her a huge deal of thanks. None of this would be possible without her. Should you come to enjoy this site/blog please offer your thanks to her! I'm just sticking my face and name on it, not unlike a George Foreman grill.

So what is this site all about? Well it is a hub for my reviews of Character Options classic Doctor Who toys for one, but it is mainly for things you won't see on my YouTube channel! Yes, all exclusive to here! Reviews of Doctor Who toys and merchandise from days long gone! A retrospective on the 5" New Series figures as well as reviews of both them and the 3.75" line! Other toy lines like Masters of the Universe, Batman, Marvel Legends, Star Wars, Big Chief Studios and more!

I'll also be posting merchandise news as it becomes available as well as adding my own thoughts to the mix! Somethings will be videos, others written articles! It shall be a mixed bag of all things toy related with Doctor Who at the top of the pile!

Should my reviews sway you into purchasing these lovely products, please use the links provided at the sides to go to these sites and order your goods! The more people who do that means I could get a teeny cut from the sales, which means I can fund new content on the site as well as hopefully getting goodies from the companies themselves. I should stress that I am also aiming to get some exclusive content from certain parties on the blog, but I need your support to push their interests even further! So please keep returning, tell your friends, spread the word, and I may have nice extras to share with you guys for it!

That's enough chat from me! If you would like more information then look no further than the video below where I shall explain in even greater detail! Stay tuned for regular updates and I look forward to seeing you all here!
